Remaking Rainsticks
This is an interactive installation that audience could pick up the plastic beads underneath and put them into different tubes, which allows them to play with the quality, speed and texture of the sound it produces.

The work is inspired by a traditional Chilean musical instrument called the rainstick, made from a long hollow tube partially filled with small pebbles, that has arranged pins inside. The structure gives its random and long lasting aspect of sound which is fascinating. I tested different combinations of materials then made 4 tubes that share identical looks while the sound qualities being very different.
